In order to subscribe to the EHMS, you must be registered. If you
are a physician, you must be a licensed, practicing physician with a valid Billing Number in order to
register. In order to request to register, please click here to request for
physician registration.
If you are a staff member, the physician with whom you are working must already be registered
to the EHMS. In order to request to be registered, please click here
to request for staff registration.
The following instructions/details are provided to help you request a subscription to use the EHMS.
What Do I Need To Subscribe to the EHMS?
All you need is:
- Internet Access;
- Microsoft® Internet Explorer 6.0 (See below for details on the free download of IE 6.0) or higher;
Where Do I Start?
The first step is to verify if you have Internet Explorer 6.0 (IE 6.0).
To do so, choose the menu item "Help" from the top of this page (if you do not see this
menu item, your toolbar may not be visible and you will need to refer to your system user manual):
Choose the "About Internet Explorer" sub menu item.
The "About Internet Explorer" window will display:
The first line will display the version, in this case Internet Explorer 6.0.
If you do not have IE 6.0(or higher) you can download it for free, as described in the following section.
Click the "OK" button to close the "About Internet Explorer" window.
How Do I Download IE 6.0 For Free?
Click this icon:

The Microsoft® website will display.
Search for the "Download" section.
Choose a language and click the "Go" button.
Locate and click the following icon:

A message will display warning you of potentially harmful files.
If you decide to continue, click the "Save" button.
Choose a location on your computer to save the application.
Proceed to the next step once IE 6.0 has successfully downloaded.
Subscribe To the EHMS
The next step is to fill out a request to register.
You must be a licensed practicing physician with a valid Billing Number in order to subscribe to this service. The Billing Number is our only verification of who you are.

that is found on each page of the application.

How Do I Know My Information Will Be Safe?
Prescient regards physician and patient privacy as its highest priority.
Prescient adheres to the rules of privacy as enforced by all relevant Provincial and
Federal laws (PIPEDA, FIPPA, HIPAA, for example) and as stated in the CSA 10 Privacy Principles.
Prescient's Privacy Enhancing Technology, the Encrypted Relational Database Model
(ERDM) is second to none
and provides for true privacy of information. It is the only Privacy Enhancing Technology
in existence that puts the control of data access in the hands of data owners and
custodians - the Physicians. Although the data resides on Prescient servers, Prescient staff
(such as Systems and Database Administrators)

What Happens When I Have Successfully Requested a Subscription?
To confirm and verify the authenticity of the subscriber being a physician, Prescient will
contact your office by telephone. Prescient may also verify with the
Ontario College of Surgeons and Physicians prior to activating your account. Upon activation, Prescient will
contact your office by telephone.
Your user name and password may now be used to log into the system. Once you have logged in, you can enjoy
the functionality and freedom of the EHMS, where your and your patient's privacy
is protected at all times. The EHMS has context sensitive Online Help on every page, so you can get up and
running immediately. The Online Help may be accessed by clicking the
icon.
You will also receive your hardcopy User Manual, which may be used as a reference in conjunction
with the Online Help.
What If I Decide To Cancel The Subscription?
You are welcome to cancel at any time. Because of the strength of our Privacy Enhancing Technology,
the Encrypted Relational Database Model (ERDM), no unauthorized person will have access to you and your
patient information. Should you decide to continue the service at a later date*, your data will not be lost.
(*The information will be retained for a period of 6 months and may be continued within this time.)
